While trawling through the massage section of issue 12 I saw a brief
note from Kei to the effect that WiZzard/Carnage had changed his handle
to Kenco! What is this?

|1-Bring Back WiZzard!

If we wanted to be named after hot beverages then the good lord Minter
would have given us hair like coffee gourds and ears like teaspoons, or
something. Possibly not anyway. The point is that a name like WiZzard
inspires instant respect (Nuff Respect to my mann WiZzard, in the howse
tonite, thys is the Ankh Morpork crew!) from anyone "in the know", as
many of us are.

But Kenco, KENCO?!? Sorry, but I agree with Kei, it's a very bad choice
of name and I think that WiZzard should be reinstated with immediate
effect, it's kewl! Or did you change it because you discovered that
Wizards are supposed to be wise (that's where the word comes from after
all: lit. "wise-ars") and respectable?

Next thing we'll see is other members of groups changing their handles
to reflect more upon their late-night consumption, we'll see "No Frills
Baked Beans/Carnage" and "Mother's Pride/Strobe", and maybe, yes just
maybe, "I Can't Believe it's not Butter/The Invaders"!

Hiscore tables and scrolly messages will have to be completely rewritten
to handle the huge increase in name lengths, this will lead to larger
programs released and taking up more disks, which in turn will cost more
to send through the post, potentially leading to a post strike!

No, this has got to be nipped in the bud before it gets out of hand and
PC manufacturers rub their hands in glee at the sudden surge in sales of
2Gb Harddrives. Kenco should change back to WiZzard (even if it IS a
couple of extra letters) and urge other people to stay as they are.

[This argument went on for ages over the Carnage mailing list ages ago.
Apart from the obvious coffee jokes Daz decided to stick with Kenco. I
kinda got used to WiZzard seen as how as the groups ascii artist I gave
the first "z" capitalisation! Although this is not always appreciated
(Hi Dooba!) what can you do with Kenco? I can do Wizards hats and wands
and stuff in ascii but a coffee cup? Gee.. all ascii artists stand up
for your rights now and demand that your groups members choose better
names to make life easier for you! As for me, I'm sticking with Kei
(pronounced "Kai" with a japanese "eye") so there! Oh and one last
thing.. I just got used to calling the author of this article "Freak"
(after several years) and now I have to call him after an anatomical
part. ;) Kei]
