 Juan Atkins

Juan Atkins is the creator of Detroit Techno. He started off messing
about with the first synthesisers and drum machines at a young age and
recorded his first track Cosmic Raindance. This was to appear later on
the Cybertron album. Juan later went on to record Alleys Of Your Mind
on Deep Space in 1981, then Cosmic Cars in 1982. This was purely a
Detroit project and despite the tracks only being released in the US,
they still sold 10,000 or more copies each. Juan coined the name
"Techno" when reading a book about computers and the Technological
Revolution and he decided that this book was saying the same thing as
his music. Detroit Techno as we kown it is all down to Juan and his
original Cyberton and Model 500 tracks, and hishi-tech funk sound that
he was creating.

 Kevin Saunderson

Kevin Saunderson is a Techno legend, a Detroit originator and an
underground DJ. From school days hanging out with Juan Atkins and
Derrick May to his overground success with Inner City, he is one of the
very, very few house producers who deserve the term "Legendary". Kevin
decided he wanted to become a DJ when he first heard Derrick May on the
decks. After "Practising his ass off" he finally got a slot as a warm
up for Eddie "flashin'" Fowlkes and started making a name for himself.
In 1986 Kevin decided it was time to go into the studio and, with a bit
of help from Juan and Derrick and a quick production lesson, Kevin put
out Triangle Love. Since then, he has had some major world-wide hits
with tracks such as Big Fun, Good Life and Pennies From Heaven as Inner
City with Paris Grey.

 Kenny Larkin

Kenny first got involved in the Techno scene when he returned home to
his native Detroit after leaving the US Air Force. He would listen to
Derrick May`s evening radion mix show and hang out at local clubs where
the cream of Detroit`s DJs would be playing. Kenny built up a strong
friendship with Richie Hawtinm with whom he later teamed up to record on
Howtin`s Plau 8 label. He has also recently set up his own label, Art
Of Dance, showcasing artists like Stacey Pullen and POD.

 Blake Baxter

In 1985, Blake Baxter began his career releasing tracks on the Chicago
based label, DJ International. He was one of the leaders of the
Acid-House-Techno scene which spread throughout Euroope in the late
1980s. Blake has released material on some of the world`s most
prestigous labels, inclusing Virgin UK, Tresor, Low Spirit and Go Bang
Records. In 1992 he joined forces with Logic Records and released the
international club hits One More Time and Sexual Deviant. Blake is one
of the hardest working DJs around and his mixing has been as "An
exhibition of pure Detroit heaven."

 Mark EG

At only 12 years old, Mark earned himself a spot on his local pirate
radio station, which in turn gave him a contact in the local disco
trade. Mark eventually got into the Techno sound of Detroit when Acid
House scene in England became too commercial, as he loved the melodies
and emotions in the tracks.

As residents at Lift, Euan & Paul bring some of the world`s finest

Edinburgh`s Wilkie House club, playing alongside guests like Choci, Mark
EG, Adam X and The Liberator DJs. Euan plays a unique blend of Hard
Trance, Acid and Techno, and Paul complements this with Hard House
combined with Detroit and Hard Techno.
