Fighting Spirit - Review by iCeMaN

Being a street fighter fan, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this game
for the Amiga. Not that street fighter of any other games have been any
good on the amiga, but I was told that Fighting Spirit was to change
this.

Ok, so I loaded the game up, it had nicely put together intro, of the
story line as soon as the game was loaded. One thing that I was really
impressed with was the music module- its bloody amazing ! After playing
the game a few times I just couldn't get the words to the music module
out of my head. A great job on the music .

Anyway back to the game, the main menu again is nicely presented like
street fighter and there was loads of options for setting round lengths,
blood level, and even CD32 pad support.

Now the game had sort of three sides to it, one playing against
computer. Two story mode, and three against another human player.

The main part being the Story mode, So I'll talk about that. Once
you've chosen your character it then plays some sampled sound stating
who fights who. All this adds to the arcadeish atmosphere the game
delivers.

Ok so whats the bloody game like :- Well Gfx are excellent, its fast,
and each character has special moves that are pulled off buy doing
different joystick combinations again these are similar to street
fighter. The backgrounds are well drawn, and the screen does scroll
from left to right. Some of the characters are non-human wish also adds
to the excitement. Theres approximately 12 characters to choose from,
giving plenty of variety.

Overall the game was great. It reminded me of Fatal Fury on the Neo
Geo, of course not as good, but for an Amiga game very impressive.

The game is definatley the closest attempt at a fighting game on the
amiga that resembles being in the arcade. The character sprites are
massive, and makes it even more enjoyable to play (however I do own a
17' monitor so this could have made the difference).

If your looking for a good beat'em up on the Amiga, then this game is
definatley worth it. I completed this game on the fifth time i played
it, and i thought it was a bit easy, however the level of hardness can
be adjusted. On the bright side its not impossible to complete, like
the well known capital punishment.
