Here's  a  brief  rundown on all the keys and functions in this issue of
the  magazine,  if  I've missed anything of note then lease feel free to
tell me the next time you send some articles i (hint bloody hint).

Assuming  you've  got  the magazine loaded and the main menu in front of
you, here's what everything does...

|1-The Menu Bar...

The  menu bar (that thing at the bottom of the screen) controls both the
menu and the text articles that you load, the buttons are...

    |  \/  |    (M)enu, returns you to the menu when you're viewing an
    |      |            article, no function on the menu screen, short
    |_|\/|_|            cut key = <Escape>.

     \____ \    Prefs,  brings up the prefs screen (see below) from the
       (___/            main menu AND the article screen, shortcut key
        \/              = "?".

       /\       Up,     Scroll up through the menu or article, keyboard
      /  \              equivalent = <Cursor up>, holding down both
     (____)             buttons/shift activates "Fast Movement".

     (    )     Down,   Scroll down through the menu or artivle, key-
      \  /              board equivalent = <Cursor Down>.

     | |        (L)oad, Load file, on the main menu it selects the file
     | |___             currently indicated by the highlighing bar to be
     |____/             loaded, shortcut key = <Enter>.

      / __ \    (Q)uit, Main menu only, quits The Word and returns you
     / /_/\/            to DOS, shortcut key = <F10>.

** Extra ** On the Up/Down arrow gadgets, pressing Right Mouse Button
            while holding down the Left Mouse Button will act the same
            as <Shift+Cursor> in that you will accelerate through the
            menu/text.

            If you have a 3-button mouse then pressing Middle Mouse
            Button while holding down the Left Mouse Button will act
            the same as <Ctrl+Cursor> in that you will go to the top
            or the bottom of the menu/text.

$fafAs mentioned briefly above, the following keyboard presses have an
effect in various parts of the program:

    Cursor Up   -   Main Menu - Scroll menu up
                    Article   - Scroll text up

    Cursor Down -   Main Menu - Scroll menu down
                    Article   - Scroll text down

    Shift       -   Main Menu - Accelerate menu movement
                    Article   - Accelerate text movement

    Ctrl        -   Main Menu - Top/Bottom of menu
                    Article   - Top/Bottom of text

    Enter       -   Main Menu - Load currently highlighted article

    Escape      -   Article   - Return to Main Menu

    F1          -   Main Menu - Toggle Colour on/off
                    Article   - Toggle Colout on/off

    F2          -   Main Menu - Rotating Logo on/off
                -   Article   - Rotating Logo on/off

    F3          -   Main Menu - Slider on/off
                -   Article   - Slider on/off

    F4          -   Reserved
                -   Reserved

    F10         -   Main Menu - Quit to DOS

    "?"         -   Main Menu - Go to Prefs Screen
                    Article   - Go to Prefs Screen

    "T"/"t"     -   Article   - Top of text

    "B"/"b"     -   Article   - Bottom of text

    Cursor Left -   Pictures  - Previous Picture (if any)

    Cursor Right-   Pictures  - Next Picture (if any)

    Esc         -   Pictures  - Return to Main Menu (If more than one)
                -   Prefs     - Return to Main Menu or Article

    Any Key     -   Pictures  - Return to Main Menu (If single pic)

From  issue  11 there's a natty little slider bar on the right hand side
of  the  screen, you can use this to move to any position in the file by
simply clicking on it with your mouse and dragging it up and down.  Note
that  the  dragbar  *DOESN'T*  alter  it's size to indicate how long the
article is, sorry!

The preferences section displays options for changing several attributes
about the way The Word is running, they are as follows:

    Music   -   1/2/Off         -   Set music, choice of 2 mods
    Speed   -   1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8 -   Speed of article scroll
    Colour  -   1/2/3/4/5       -   Pre-Defined colour palettes
    Font    -   1/2/3/4         -   4 different 8-point fonts.
